The holiday season is one that inspires a mix of feelings. Those of faith look forward to celebrations, decorations, and time with family. But those celebrations can also be mixed with feelings of sorrow and longing as we miss those who are no longer with us. Then there is the chaos of the season as we attend holiday parties, shop endlessly, and still try to do our work and school. Homeschool Hotlinks challenges you to do something different this year.
Each week, do something special with your children to focus on what matters most to your family.
Week 1 - Take an unplanned day off from school and just do something fun with your children. Remind them how much you care for them and how special they are to you.
Week 2 - Contact a local organization to volunteer as a family. Ask them what they need and do it.
Week 3 - Buy or make a gift for someone else. Select a card from a giving tree at your church or Publix or think of someone you know who is alone this holiday season. Buy or make a special gift with your kids and go together to give it to someone in need.
Week 4 - Have your children make holiday gifts for any last minute needs. They can make mix jars filled with ingredients for your favorite home-made cookies, crafts, or any other idea you may have. This will save you some money and make new memories with your children.
Above all, take time this holiday season to escape from the hustle and bustle and focus on your faith, your family, and what really matters most to you.
